Though the “glass ceiling” may be invisible, it’s no secret that it’s there. Back in 2014, the U.S. Federal Glass Ceiling Commission defined the term as “the unseen, yet unbreachable barrier that keeps minorities and women from rising to the upper rungs of the corporate ladder, regardless of their qualifications or achievements." Unfortunately, most of that still holds true today. But, the good news is, the word “unbreachable” no longer applies.

Minorities throughout the U.S., in every industry across the board, are shattering glass ceilings every day, and Mission Critical’s Top 25 Women In Technology (WIT) are no exception to that.

“As the world slowly progresses out of a difficult pandemic, all of the important people in the data center and other critical markets deserve our appreciation," said Mike Murphy, publisher, Mission Critical. "This month, we gladly recognize those women who have forged a place in this industry and helped to make it an essential resource. The women featured here represent thousands who are part of the fabric that binds a multitude of global businesses together. Congratulations to the inaugural Women In Technology contest winners, and thank you for being the leaders you are today.”

Each of the winners has a story of tremendous success that is also filled with challenges, doubt, and failures — it shouldn’t come as a surprise that shattering glass can get messy and, sometimes, people get hurt. But, what makes these women truly exceptional is that, after rising above the barrier, they have all chosen to come back down to clear a path so others can follow their lead.

Coaches, mentors, muses — call them what you will. They are the Top 25 Women In Technology today, and they are empowering the women of tomorrow.
